How Seed Cycling Works

How Seed Cycling Works

There are two phases within our menstrual cycle.

To better understand the energies that our cycle offers us we can compare them to the four seasons in nature.

The First Phase in our cycle is the follicular phase which lasts 14 days.

It starts on the first day of menstruation, Winter and goes on to Spring. In the Moon cycle the first day of bleeding would correspond to the Full Moon.

Estrogen is on the rise and must be eliminated from our body. Pumpkin & flax seed ingested daily during this phase will inhibit excess production of estrogen and improve progesterone levels.

Lignans found in flax seeds bind excess estrogen so it can be removed from our body. The combination of these two seeds create balanced estrogen as it is an estrogen booster and both seeds provide a boost of important omega-3 and fatty acids.

The Second Phase of our cycle is the luteal phase that starts on the 15th day of the cycle, from ovulation to menstruation.

The first week is Summer when we ovulate and the last week of this phase is Fall. According to the moon calendar we start this phase with the New moon.

Estrogen is at an all time high with testosterone and progesterone on the rise. Sunflower and sesame seeds are considered progesterone boosters and are ingested daily for the remainder of the cycle.

Sesame seeds and sunflower seeds work together to keep progesterone levels from rising and falling. PMS symptoms such as; cramps, acne, breast tenderness, mood imbalance and cravings can occur because of the fluctuating progesterone levels during the second half of our cycle.

Sesame seeds block excess estrogen in the body. They contain phytoestrogens which balance natural fluctuations of hormones and Sunflower seeds help detoxify the liver of estrogen.

Seed cycling delivers the nutrition we need during our cycle.
